A Spa-Like Primary Bath Defined by Glass and Light
Client:Homeowner
Location: Staten Island, NY
Project type: Residential
Product:Shower Doors & Enclosures
Status: Completed in 2026
This primary bath balances warmth, openness, and restraint through a carefully integrated glass package that allows each architectural element to remain visually connected while serving a distinct purpose.
At the center of the space, an oversized frameless low-iron glass divider defines the wet room without interrupting the room’s open composition. Its minimal presence preserves clear sightlines across the shower and surrounding architectural finishes, allowing the expansive tilework and layered ceiling details to remain visually prominent throughout the space.
Adjacent to the shower, a custom switchable privacy glass window introduces flexible control over daylight and seclusion. Framed in brushed bronze aluminum to coordinate with the room’s plumbing fixtures and hardware palette, the system transitions between transparent and opaque states, balancing openness with privacy as needed.
Completing the composition, a frameless glass enclosure encloses the adjoining sauna, where warm wood interiors contrast against the cooler tonal palette of the surrounding bath. A pivoting glass door and minimal hardware detailing preserve the clean architectural lines of the enclosure while maintaining visual continuity between the sauna and wet room.
Together, the installation demonstrates how custom architectural glass can be used not simply as enclosure, but as a material that supports transparency, light modulation, and spatial refinement within a highly detailed residential interior.
