Irvington Private Residence
Designed in collaboration with CGA Studio Architects, this Irvington residence brings together textured glass, clear glazing, and mirrored millwork across its bathrooms and dressing areas. Aria Glass fabricated and installed a series of custom glass elements that balance privacy, reflection, and openness while supporting the home’s traditional architectural detailing.
In the primary bathroom, the shower enclosure is defined by vertically fluted tempered glass set within a dark metal frame. The ribbed surface filters views and softens light, allowing the enclosure to provide privacy without feeling visually heavy within the room. Positioned behind the freestanding tub, the glass introduces texture and depth while remaining integrated with the bathroom’s broader material palette of warm wood, brass fixtures, and soft neutral finishes.
The hall bathroom follows a clearer and more minimal expression. Aria Glass installed a frameless sliding door composed of clear tempered glass and exposed rolling hardware. The sliding door moves along a dark horizontal rail mounted above the opening, creating a clean enclosure that preserves sightlines through the narrow space and allows the surrounding tilework to remain fully visible. While materially distinct from the primary bath, the hall bath continues the project’s broader approach of using glass to shape space without overwhelming it.
Mirror installations were also integrated into the residence’s custom millwork. In the dressing area, mirrored wardrobe and closet doors expand the room visually while reinforcing the symmetry of the cabinetry. Additional mirror components were fabricated for the medicine cabinets, introducing reflective surfaces that support both function and spatial brightness. Across these applications, the mirrors work less as isolated objects and more as part of the home’s architectural finish palette.
Together, these installations establish a layered glass language throughout the residence. Fluted glass introduces texture and privacy, clear glazing maintains lightness and visibility, and mirrored surfaces add reflection and depth within the millwork. The result is a set of glass elements that feel tailored to each room while remaining consistent with the character of the home as a whole.
